    A Big Trend

If you’re like most of us, even if you’ve got a desk phone sitting in your office, you use your personal mobile phone for the majority, if not all, of your business calls. Text messaging coworkers & clients has become an integral part of your office communications. And going to work without your smartphone is now unthinkable.

We’re here to help you make your personal phone a better work phone.

    A Unique Strategy

Perhaps the most significant development in enterprise tech over the last 5 years has been the Consumerization of IT. While in the past IT was the gatekeeper for the tools an employee had access to, the rise of the web and now smartphones mean that employees are increasingly the new gateway into the enterprise.

Clementine’s strategy capitalizes on this shift in important ways –

    1. Putting Users First - We give end users a powerful, business-class communications tool for their personal mobile phones. Features like robust directory services, secure chat and individual conference bridges were once the domain of expensive, top-down deployed PBX & UC systems. We wrap & reimagine these systems for a world of empowered mobile employees & sleek consumerized apps.

    2. Containerizing Voice & Text – While BYOD has clear advantages, it also introduces significant new liabilities for employees and employers alike. Most of these stem from the inevitable mixing of social and work communications on personal devices – particularly involving personal mobile numbers. Where rapidly maturing tools like MDM focus on containerizing apps and email, Clementine brings the benefits of containerization to voice and text.

    3. Cutting the Cord - In the long run, we’ll give IT the tools to eventually cut the cord on the desk phone. The shift to a MobileFirst workforce is inevitable and underway but for a variety of reasons, IT – ranging from SMB up to Fortune 500 – still spends hundreds of dollars per year per line to keep that deskphone lit. By making a great app that end users love, and delivering a service that avoids the weight of legacy PBX and UC services, we’re going to start chipping away at those reasons.

    Savvy Investors

We’re backed by a stellar syndicate including Homebrew Ventures, Redpoint Ventures, and others. Our investors bring an enviable mix of deep pockets, domain experience, and strong networks into enterprises large & small.

    A Great Team

Perhaps most importantly – although we’re targeting the heart of Enterprise Telephony, we’ve chosen to take on that mission with a decidedly non-traditional Enterprise Telephony team.

As a result, our backgrounds span the gamut from classic enterprise to mobile to social to gaming.

Yep, gaming. Especially gaming. Nearly half our team, in fact.

It turns out that building an MMORPG with millions of simultaneous players, who demand fast-twitch response times, and are ruthless user experience critics is actually excellent training for building the next generation of MobileFirst Enterprise Telephony.

And with easier monsters to slay.
