    Our story

LaundryRepublic was founded by two ex-strategy consultants who were sick of hauling their clothes down to the local dry cleaner every weekend. They wanted a way to get their laundry done without leaving their home, at a time that suited them, quickly, easily and conveniently.

LaundryRepublic solves laundry by placing secure lockers in the common areas of apartment buildings, offices and gyms. Residents simply drop their clothes in any open locker, lock the door and place an order on their phone or online. The whole process takes 30 seconds, and can be done any time of the day or night.

One of our drivers will come to the building a short while later to collect it, bring it back to our state-of-the-art facility in SW London, where it's checked, tagged, cleaned (that's right, we do the cleaning ourselves, using the best equipment and sustainable cleaning methods), pressed, and packed. Then we deliver it back to your building, and let you know when it's ready to collect. No annoying collection and delivery windows - just convenient, simple and fresh.

We've grown quickly and organically, always maintaining high standards (check out our feedback on google). We've won numerous awards, including best online dry cleaning and laundry service in 2016 and again in 2017. Our offices are based between Balham and Clapham South, in SW London.

    Big plans

We want to solve laundry for our busy customers, giving them more time to do the things they love. We're now a team of over 50 people, profitable, and growing at more than 40% per year.

Our aim is to be the UK's largest dry cleaning and laundry service, and then expand internationally. In order to enable that we're looking at significantly increasing our tech capabilities.

    Our technology

We're not a tech business (i.e. the tech isn't our product), but we are tech-enabled, and we won't be able to achieve our objectives without continued development in this area.

At the core of our operation is our order management system (EPOS), a bespoke PHP build with a MySQL database. The front-end uses JavaScript with JQuery, as well as CSS, HTML and XSLT. It connects to our website and app via a ReST JSON API which uses PHP with a SLIM 2 Framework.

    This role

We're looking for a highly motivated, self-starting senior full-stack developer to work across our tech platform and really plant the flag for the future tech team. This is a great opportunity to shape the tech for the whole business, getting the independence and freedom of working in a startup combined with the security of a more mature, financially stable business. It also comes with the potential to help build and then lead a growing team, mentoring more junior developers.

You'll be working alongside one of the co-founders, David Lambert, as well as our existing freelancer and our consultant CTO. This is a relatively general role, and successful candidates will be expected to get involved in several areas of LaundryRepublic’s tech development programme (both hardware / software and back-end / front-end)

The key area of focus is development of LaundryRepublic’s proprietary web-based order management system, to improve operational efficiency and customer experience. A major part of role will also be to develop the interface between our order management system and a third-party garment sorting conveyor system. In addition, you will be involved in the ongoing development of customer-facing website and mobile app
