About Us

Ponder is a social network that allows it's users to expand their social media reach. Initially, content gets distributed locally, and if it gets rated high enough, it gets distributed to a more global audience.

We are a team of 6 guys and 1 girl in L.A. backed and advised by Tinder founders and Mark Cuban.

Right now the team consists of Tyler, Will, Chase, Camille, Stephen, Riley and Brian. Will is a product visionary who build the initial ponder app before Riley and Stephen jumped on board. Brian is a Python Wiz who helped shape the backend. Tyler was the lead marketing representative at Tinder who helped get all the initial traction on Tinder from college campuses. Camille is a very well connected social influencer with connections throughout greek life nationally, as well as internationally. Chase is a marketing & live event/brand partnership guru who founded 28 st. entertainment, a company that sells over 100K tickets annually. Using the college rep program implemented from Tinder, Ponder plans on spreading through social influencers and emulating the same growth as Tinder in highly social circles. Once the product is adopted whole heartedly by the college population, it will grow into other demographics.

We plan on re-shaping the way that people use social media by turning it into a game much like tinder did to dating. Content is rated by it's quality, not by the pre-determined reach of a user. By focusing on rating actual content, we can better determine when content is worthy of a greater audience, so we also see ourselves as potentially being able to re-define the concept of virality. By forcing people to make binary decisions on all forms of content we can also give our users much more feedback on their content than traditional social media.

What We Are Looking For

iOS developer

3+ years of object-oriented experience
1+ year iOS development experience (Using Objective-C/C/C++ with Cocoa and other frameworks)
Understanding of the MVC pattern and other coding best practices
Specific things we would like experience in
Core Animation
Core Data (experience with Core Data wrappers also fine)
Using Auto Layout to build adaptive user interfaces
Bonus points if you:
Have any sort of web development experience (particularly building responsive, front-end web apps or backend experience with Python/Flask)
Collaborated with other developers on projects and are accustomed to best practices regarding version control and writing maintainable code
Have the “startup mentality.” We love developers who can take initiative by turning ideas into code with little to no hand holding. We’re an early stage startup meaning your work will have a significant, direct impact on the final product.

Backend/full stack developer

3+ years of object-oriented experience
1+ year Python development experience ideally with experience using the Flask framework
Understanding of key server-side web development concepts such as:
Integrating multiple databases into a single system
Managing a hosting environment
Migrating data using scripting
Implementing and managing a backup system
Security/access control
Creating and implementing practical database schemas
Scaling an application and its hosting environment to support growth
Knowledge of best practices for efficient, maintainable code

Bonus points if you:
Experience building responsive, front-end web apps
Experience developing “real time” applications
