Samba TV was founded in 2008 with one goal: To improve the TV experience for the people who watch, broadcast, and advertise on TV.
Our team has deep experience in digital media, algorithms, large-scale Web engineering, big data & design. At Samba TV, we work together to make television the best it can be. Samba TV's technology is built into connected devices like Smart TVs, Set Top Boxes, Smart Phones, and Tablets. By recognizing what's on screen, Samba TV learns what you like, and connects you to the shows and actors in unparalleled ways. Across phones, tablets, and TV, Samba TV delivers a personal television experience. Our data and insights are transforming the way stakeholders across the media landscape are thinking about their business.
Given the dramatic growth in streaming services, connected devices, time-shifting, and multi-screen viewership, our data products solve real problems and create tremendous competitive advantage for our clients. TV advertisers and TV broadcasters can now better understand and execute media plans using our insights on viewership. We're in a significant growth phase and have opportunities to help shape game-changing products in the pipeline.
The founding team came out of BitTorrent looking to make TV awesome. We completed our Series A in May of 2012 with investors including Jay Virdy, Tom McInerney, Richard Yoo, James Hong, Mark Cuban, and Gary Lauder. In 2017, we raised a Series B round of $37.5M to expand our global operations. We're a big, smart family and take care of our own. Perks include the usual things at a startup -- unlimited vacation days, top workstations, company trips, work from home occasionally to get things done, etc. From postdocs and PhDs working on complex video and audio algorithms to hackers and designers working on insane web and mobile problems – we’re looking for the best and brightest. Bonus points if you don’t hog the remote.
