Although it's still in its infancy, blockchain technology is perhaps the most significant technological development of the decade. Thanks to the new protocols Ethereum has introduced, there's a whole new ecosystem of applications being developed that are completely decentralised. Status is mobile interface to access them.
These decentralized applications remove the need for middlemen and centralised servers, providing a clear path forward towards an internet where users get to own their own data, and economies built on permissionless, open protocols.
It is our belief that messenger apps are become the gateway to our economies and social lives. They have the highest retention rates on user acquisition, and more time is spent in messenger apps than any other app category. In June 2017, we conducted what was one of the most successful crowdfunding campaigns in history. With our strong engineering team, and rapidly growing open source community, we believe Status can solve a real problem with the on-boarding of people 'onto the blockchain'.
