UMBEYA is a tool to spot junk information online. We think there’s too much fake news, propaganda and other BS on the internet and we don’t think people should have to read it. Online misinformation is just a waste of everyone’s time - except the people profiting from it.

Umbeya is designed to use crowd intelligence to spot fakes and sort the good information from the bad. Our aim is to build a worldwide community whose judgements can be used to quickly verify any piece of content that any user wants to submit. We will analyse the crowd’s judgements and make the information available to all users so that everyone can see what content is trustworthy, what should be taken with a pinch of salt, and what can safely be ignored.

We are starting with fake news, because that looks like the biggest junk information problem right now, but ultimately we want to be the scourge of all forms of online misinformation.
