Founded by Cranfield University and three senior academics (Prof Stewart Williams, Dr Filomeno Martina, and Dr Jialuo Ding) in 2018, WAAM3D Limited is a technology-driven company providing comprehensive integrated technical solutions in the field of Wire-Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM). It is the commercial outlet Cranfield University has established to exploit its world-leading research in this field since 2006, with several grants, over 100 publications, and a team of 40 people working on its research programme; as well as some of the biggest metallic parts ever printed, with the financial support of companies like Airbus, BAE, Lockheed, TechnipFMC, Schlumberger, etc. WAAM3D’s Series A was completed in December 2019 with an investment from the Singaporean Accuron Technologies Ltd.
Our vision is to be the world-leading company for WAAM processes, and to implement them in every industry and research organization around the world; our mission is to provide all the necessary tools and technical solutions needed for widespread adoption and exploitation of WAAM, through a coherent ecosystem that responds to the needs users have for the implementation of WAAM.
