Summary:

Translations.com is seeking an experienced Accessibility professional to help expand our service offerings across the organization and client base. This is a cross-functional role that works closely with both sales teams to help close sales opportunities and production teams to ensure the proper execution of accessibility assessment, remediation and regression testing engagements. This is a hands-on role.

The position of Software Globalization Consultant will also be responsible for partnering with both sales and production teams to expand the overall Accessibility business. This candidate should be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to constantly changing priorities and parameters.

Sales Support:

* Provide presales support as subject-matter expert on Accessibility (A11Y) over both phone and onsite meetings with potential customers
* Train sales team to effectively sell A11Y testing and remediation services
* Work with sales team to understand customer requirements and craft strategic proposals for complex engagements
* Continually develop and expand A11Y testing and remediation service offerings based on ever-changing industry demands and customer needs

Operational Support:

* Develop processes and best practices related to A11Y to be followed by all Translations.com production centers
* Train and onboard production centers in accordance with best practices
* Evaluate testing practices on an ongoing basis, identify potential areas for improvement and implement process improvements
* Work with vendor management team to develop recruitment, assessment and onboarding strategy for freelance testers

About You:

Required Skills:

* Strong understanding of global accessibility laws and standards such as WCAG, Section 508, ADA
* Extensive knowledge of Accessibility best practices
* Experience with process development and training
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Thorough, methodical, and creative with extreme attention to detail
* Expert at time management and able to work with minimal supervision
* Experience providing accessibility strategy consulting to teams and understanding of the different roles and responsibilities across the disciplines of software development
* Empathy for people with disabilities and an understanding of the different perspectives and needs of people

Required Experience and Qualifications:

* Minimum Bachelor's degree or its equivalent
* 3 to 5 years of experience in accessibility testing of enterprise web applications
* 3 to 5 years of experience in validating web applications for WCAG 2.0/2.1 Level A and AA compliance
* 3 to 5 years of experience in working with assistive technologies for accessibility testing (e.g. JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver (OSX & iOS), and Android Talkback)
* Experience in creating test strategy and test plans
* Experience in documenting findings, providing observation and VPAT reports
* Knowledge of correct use and limitations of WAI-ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) in web application development
* Understanding of compatibility with various platforms and limitations of use
* Knowledge of HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and iOS/Android development best practices (Does not need to be a developer but should be able to research and recommend solutions in these various technologies in collaboration with developers)
* Experience/Expertise using shortcuts and keystrokes

Desired Skills and Experience:

* Certified IAAP Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS)
* Certified through DHS Trusted Tester (TT) Program
* Familiarity with Accessibility Management Platforms (AMP)
* Experience in testing Mobile apps for accessibility is a plus
* Experience building and leading a technical team
* Talent for building relationships and trust within teams who have been resistant to accessibility in the past is a plus
* Experience working directly with people and communities of consumers with disabilities is a plus
