About University Of Southern California

Job Description

The University of Southern California's Iovine and Young Academy is seeking a Computer Services Consultant I to support the faculty, students and staff of this cutting-edge education institution. The Computer Services Consultant will be a member of the Technical Support team responsible for end-user support and maintenance of all audio-visual systems, computers and software used in the school's instructional processes and spaces.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience supporting end-users in the application of advanced technologies. The candidate should possess excellent technical troubleshooting and customer service skills. The majority of the role is supporting A/V equipment, Apple Computers and OS X, but may include required knowledge of instructional or design-oriented software. This position is a day shift, but the candidate must be available to work mid-day or evening shifts as needed. Day shifts are typically 10:00AM to 6:30PM with a one-hour lunch.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES / JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Principal duties include:

* System administration/maintenance/troubleshooting for Windows/Mac servers and workstations.
* Computer-related technical support for faculty, staff and students, specifically in the use of advanced classroom technologies and equipment which include but are not limited to 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, etc.
* Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

* Audio/Visual equipment
* Digital cameras
* Troubleshooting for various digital technologies
* Problem identification and solution for the above
* Desktop system service, upgrade and repair
* Network security access, including management and testing
* Extensive knowledge and experience with Apple iOS environments

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Understanding of higher education operations
* 2-3 years of relevant work experience
* Experience with advanced or specialized computer-controlled machines (CNC), including 3D printers and laser cutters, or computer-based media production environments
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work successfully within a team of students, staff and faculty members in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
* Knowledge of computing environments, with additional knowledge of networks, workstations, wireless communication, and security software
