Role Summary:The Industrial Security Specialist (ISS) will be a part of a dynamic security team. The Industrial Security Specialist (ISS) role aides in the development, implementation, and maintenance of security procedures as required by the Department of Defense and the National Industrial Security Program.
Essential Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) and experience with the implementation of DoD security requirements within a defense contractor
Support the Facility Security Officer in all matters necessary to ensure compliance with the National Industrial Security Program
Keep abreast of applicable laws, regulations, and industry guidance that impact government security requirements and assist in the design and implementation of appropriate policies and procedures to ensure compliance
Assist with the administrative details of the Security Program
Prepare, organize and maintain all required facility and personnel security documentation and paperwork
Establish and maintain successful working relationships with USG and internal customers
Collaborate with teammates, Facility Security Officers and Information System Security Managers throughout the business
Assist the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) and / or the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) with the accreditation and re-accreditation of classified Information Systems to include user access, auditing documentation and training in accordance with USG policies and regulations
Coordinate, conduct, and document briefings and security awareness training to include indoctrination, annual refreshers and debriefings for cleared personnel
Assist in the development of security plans and procedures as required to ensure NISPOM compliance
Assist in conducting thorough self-assessments and internal audits documenting deficiencies
Analyze, formulate and implement compliant correct action(s)
Detect, report, and respond to security incidents and events
Assist the FSO in the preparation for annual self-assessments and DSS Reviews
Assist in managing the DoD e-QIP / JPAS personnel security clearance process and database to ensure personnel security clearances are processed efficiently
Process incoming and outgoing visit requests, clearance transfers, and related actions
Prepare classified materials for transmission to include marking, wrapping and mailing as required
Prepare and review DD Form 254(s)
Enter and track relevant data in Access Commander
Qualifications/Requirements:Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in industrial security)
A minimum of 4 years of experience in Security
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT(S):
Must possess an active secret security clearance or higher
Must meet and maintain eligibility requirements for access to classified information (Prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. Citizenship)
This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status prior to employment
Desired Characteristics:A fully adjudicated DoD security clearance at the Secret level
Working knowledge of the
* National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM)
* Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS)
* and other Security Related Policies
* Databases
* and Platforms
Self-starter with ability to work independently with limited supervision
Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects, organize and prioritize various tasks seeing each through to successful completion
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures as required
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers
Presents in a professional demeanor and demonstrate excellent speaking, writing, and organizational skills
Facility Security Officer certification through the Defense Security Service or the ability to complete required training and security certifications within the first year
