We are not afraid to use the latest tools and languages to deliver great experiences to our customers across all platforms. We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Analytics team. As a member of the team, you will use your depth and breadth across many technologies to make the Analytics experience the best it can possibly be.

How You Contribute to Our Vision: Key Responsibilities

* Get the chance to build or design a data platform and work with large sets of historical and real time data across many different segments of the software industry
* With the end goal of building and supporting a content rich data platform that can easily be leveraged by the entire organization, close collaboration with engineers and analysts across the organization is key
* Drive and define standards for data across the organization. Ensure different department's data initiatives are aligned to the architectural vision and redundancies are avoided
* Review detailed designs from others, align them with data platform technical vision, and exercise technical leadership on the team and overall engineering organization
* Provide guidance, technical leadership, and mentoring to other members of the team. Fostering innovation
* Proactively recommend improvements and new approaches to address potential systemic pain points and technical debt
* Participating in your team's on-call rotation, triaging and addressing production issues as they arise

About You: Skills and Attributes

* You have 5+ years of experience building, maintaining, and maturing data infrastructure for large scale systems
* Experience with building and managing data platform for both internal and external data use
* Have a deep understanding of the trade-offs to be considered when designing and delivering data platform based on the end use case
* Demonstrated experience with data modeling, database design, extract transform load (ETL) processes, data visualization, working with unstructured data, and cloud based data warehousing

Preferred Requirements

* You have 5+ years of experience building, maintaining, and maturing data infrastructure for large scale systems
* Experience with building and managing data platform for both internal and external data use
* Have a deep understanding of the trade-offs to be considered when designing and delivering data platform based on the end use case
* Demonstrated experience with data modeling, database design, extract transform load (ETL) processes, data visualization, working with unstructured data, and cloud based data warehousing

We support engineers to explore ideas via monthly Hack Days, actively attack our own infrastructure weekly to learn and get better, host an annual internal technical conference called PagerCon, ask our engineers to represent PagerDuty at industry events, and contribute to the open source community.

Each team has a dedicated Engineering Manager, Product Owner, and agile coach to help support our people and teams to be successful. We believe that Management is a separate skill set and have different career paths for our engineers and managers including a full 'stay technical' career track.
