JOB DESCRIPTION:

This Software Engineer will provide embedded software engineering to the Wireless Solutions segment within the Harris Corporation Electronic Systems. Responsible for developing embedded applications with supporting low-level drivers. Involved in the entire software life cycle, including software coding, integration, debugging, and full documentation. Requires a good knowledge base of engineering principles, theories and techniques. May be assigned the engineering responsibility for a project or part of a project depending upon size, scope and complexity. Design, develop, test and verify complex engineering tasks in software, systems, and/or hardware components. Encompass a wide range of sophisticated (cross-discipline) engineering problem resolutions. Involved in design and development of engineering assignments related to products and systems including the engineering of new products or updates to existing products.

Specific responsibilities include:

* Develops embedded software utilizing C for embedded applications and drivers
* Design, document, implement, and test using team processes
* Consult with hardware engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate the interfaces between hardware and software and operational performance requirements of the overall system.
* Perform software/FPGA/hardware component integration while identifying, tracking, and repairing defects.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
* 6+ years of embedded software development experience
* At least 4 years of experience with C coding within a real time operating system
* At least 4 years of experience using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and multi-meters

Preferred Additional Skills:

* Active Secret Clearance
* Knowledge of Git revision control and JIRA
* Experience with built-in and automated test
* Understanding of Linux kernel-space/user-space
