MITRE's Systems Security Engineering Department has a new opportunity for a strong technical candidate with a STEM degree to join an innovative team of engineers focused on ensuring resilient and secure solutions for sponsor or customer needs and developing security capabilities for a safer world.

The right candidate will enjoy a fast-paced teaming environment and working with cutting-edge technology and contribute to advancing security concepts. We are seeking a self-starter that assists in building security into large engineering projects and acquisition efforts. The candidate for this position will work a wide variety of challenging systems resiliency, security, and cybersecurity activities in direct support of programs and will have opportunities to advance the science of resilient systems engineering for security and other loss concerned needs.

Day to day responsibilities:

* Analyze missions and systems for potential loss conditions and unacceptable loss consequences and propose mitigation approaches
* Provide guidance on ensuring systems are specified, designed, developed, implemented, integrated, and sustained to meet security needs, goals and objectives
* Research and develop unique, cutting-edge technical capabilities and processes for understanding, assessing, and analyzing system and technology resilience and security
* Assist in systems security analysis and assessments, including identifying risk criticalities and handling options, to inform decision making
* Assist in development of systems security and cybersecurity strategy development, system testing and evaluation, and verification and validation efforts
* Analyze system requirements, software, hardware, supply chain, and integration approaches using analysis tools to identify vulnerabilities and system architecture, design, and implementation flaws
* Develop system security engineering attributes within complex model-based system engineering products in direct support of programs
* Clearance - must have current / active US Government Top Secret clearance

Requirements / must have for consideration:

* Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering, Mathematics, Engineering Physics, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or Software Engineering, or similar field
* Clearance - must have current / active US Government Top Secret clearance
* 8 + years applicable experience should include:

o Familiarity with NIST SP 800-160 systems security engineering considerations for systems engineering

o Familiarity with INCOSE defined 30 lifecycle systems engineering processes

o Familiarity with intel ops: task, collect, process, exploit, disseminate

o Experience with Systems Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA) or similar process

o Knowledge of hardware, software, supply chain, systems vulnerabilities, anti-tamper and exploitation approaches

o Experience in vulnerability discovery, and analysis tools, fuzzing tools, and dynamic system analysis

* Proven ability to work independently to learn new technologies, techniques, processes, languages, platforms, systems
* Experience defining a system of systems architecture
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to foster relationship development

Preferred Qualifications:

* Familiarity with embedded systems and RF concepts
* Familiarity with space-based systems and/or space support ground systems
* Familiarity with DoD tactical networking
* Familiarity with Model Based System Engineering tools such as Rhapsody, Cameo, MagicDraw, or similar
* Experience with independent verification & validation of security requirements and capabilities
* Familiarity with weapons system development, sustainment, and security operations
* Knowledge of reliability and/or safety engineering methods
* Experience incorporating systems resiliency and security engineering concepts into acquisition documents (e.g., Performance Work Statements)
* Experience in technical evaluations of contractor proposals for systems resiliency, security, and cybersecurity considerations
