Computer Vision Engineers are in a highly technical field that has a lot of demand across the country. They are responsible for maintaining and creating programs that deal with robotic tasks that humans have typically done. This position requires that a person is highly detail oriented and also has a strong skill set that is both analytical and creative. At the very minimum, a four-year degree is required in computer science or a related software field, however, many companies might also require a graduate level degree.
Computer Vision Engineers are required to closely work with control systems in addition to robotics in order to solve a variety of development challenges. Typically, a Computer Vision Engineer will need to test vision algorithms for control robots, evaluate real-time controls, optimized analytics and implement creative solutions for problems as they occur. They must also be able to debug software without additional support. It is paramount that a Computer Vision Engineer is fluent in industry-standard languages such as C++, OpenCV and PCL.
